Traditionally, modern medicine has been reluctant to use alternative medicine’s term “leaky gut” and comment on the related concepts such as its correlation to Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD). However, new studies from Vanderbilt examine the possibility that increased permeability of the mucosal membrane is a contributing factor to inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD).
